Day 1
Yesterday, while celebrating a birthday, I spent a lot of time thinking about things that have happened over the last year. Last year was quite awesome, but something that struck me is that most of the good things that I can recall were things that just happened to me, rather than things that I went out and achieved.
As a result, I’m making some goals for the next year of my life. Calling them new year’s resolutions would be completely accurate, but I’m not going to publicize them all at once. I’m just going to start off with one and see where I can go from there.
My first public resolution for this year of my life is to post something to this blog daily. Notice that I said “something”; a simple picture or quote counts. The bottom line is that I am tired of having stale content here.

Progress on my goals
So far this year I have read Clean Code by Robert Martin (aka Uncle Bob) and Getting Things Done (GTD) by David Allen. It took me a couple of days into March to finish up GTD but I’ve more than made up for it since then. In just a few days, I’ve read nearly half of Test-Driven Development by Kent Beck. I’ve been blown away by how easy (and quick) a read it has been so far. It is really great learning material. More…

Books to read in 2009
As you may have seen in my New Year’s resolutions post, I am aiming to read 12 professional development books this year. In this post I’m going to give a list of books that I’m looking at. This may change throughout the year, but at least I have a starting point now. More…
2009 Resolutions
In keeping with the tradition of making New Year’s resolutions, here is a list of things I resolve to do in 2009. More…
