I haven’t written a recap yet, but I will eventually…

Woodstock fail

Alarm clocks can be finicky little devices. Particularly when it’s secondary functionality on another device (see: iPhone). I had big intentions of hitting the road at 5am this morning to drive to Anniston, AL for the Woodstock 5k. Alas, that didn’t happen.

As depressing as it was to not run in this race, things could be much worse. Last night we had our first trip to the Children’s Hospital ER with Jane Darby. You can read all about it over on Jane Darby’s blog. It was not a “hair on fire” emergency, but still enough to freak us out a little bit. By all indications everything is good now though.

I hate that I wasn’t able to participate in the Woodstock 5k. I truly was looking forward to this race, and my training was actually not that bad leading up to it. It definitely stinks to miss out but there are always other races to sign up for. Now I just need to find the next one…

Halfway point of 4 week training goal

Halfway point of 4 week training goal

I’m currently one run behind my target pace for achieving my goal of running 16 times in 4 weeks. I should be able to find time to make up for that run, but I don’t need to let myself get any farther behind.

I don’t have much time before my next 5k, so this goal seemed most appropriate. I missed a couple of scheduled runs during the first week, but have been able to get back on track by running on the weekend.

Today I signed up for this race in Anniston on August 4th. It looks like a fun race and everything, but pretty much the only reason I signed up is because they have a “Clydesdale” category. This is like a separate age category, but for men over 200lbs instead of men 25-29 years old. I really wish more races would have the same setup!

Krispy Kreme Doughnut Dash in Birmingham

This is the best news I’ve seen today. These runs sound like so much fun, but I have never had an opportunity to try it out myself.

In which we lost 21-1. Ouch!

I was the one scoring run for our team though, for whatever that’s worth!
