Progress on my goals

So far this year I have read Clean Code by Robert Martin (aka Uncle Bob) and Getting Things Done (GTD) by David Allen. It took me a couple of days into March to finish up GTD but I’ve more than made up for it since then. In just a few days, I’ve read nearly half of Test-Driven Development by Kent Beck. I’ve been blown away by how easy (and quick) a read it has been so far. It is really great learning material.

Despite all of this good progress, I have been falling behind on my Bible reading goals. I made it through Genesis and Exodus fairly quickly, but since then I’ve gotten really bogged down in Leviticus. I really need to just set aside some time and try to get caught up. It wouldn’t be a great feeling to match my goal of reading 12 professional development books in one year without completing the most important personal book.

Not to be outdone by my reading goals, my fitness goals have been going pretty well also.  I had about a 3 week lull, where my weight really didn’t change too much, but with my weigh-in today I hit 210lbs.  This is the first time in quite a while that I’ve seen 210 (though I was only about 215 last summer), so that was pretty exciting for me.  Only 10lbs to go before I hit my target weight of 200lbs!  Also, my body fat percentage is down to 21.2% which is right on the border of average and above average.  It would be really nice to get this down into the teens in the coming weeks.

So anyways, that is where I’m at right now.  My other goals are coming along alright, but not really worth mentioning in this post.  For those interested in seeing what’s coming up on my reading list, here is an image of my latest shipment of books.  As I’ve mentioned, I’m already about half way through TDD (the middle book).

I'm not easing up
