2009 Resolutions – after one month

Here is a quick update to let you know how my new year’s resolutions are coming.

Physical resolutions

  1. Run a 5k  – I have registered for the BE5k which will be on February 14th
  2. Run a 10k
  3. Run a half-marathon
  4. Eat fast food no more than once per week – I have been doing awesome with this one… still going strong

Professional resolutions

  1. Attend at least one major conference
  2. Attend at least two minor conferences – I attended Alabama Code Camp in Montgomery last weekend.  I consider that a minor conference
  3. Get involved in BSDA and Bug.Net – I have not made headway here… need to do that this month
  4. Read 12 professional development books (technical and nontechnical).  Of course, that’s one per month. – I have one chapter left in Clean Code and then Getting Things Done should be a pretty quick read for February

Personal resolutions

  1. Find a church home – We have found a church that we are interesting in learning more about and we have also joined a small group bible study on Wednesday nights.
  2. Read the bible all the way through – I’ve fallen behind here.  I’ve read Genesis and Exodus but have really slowed down in Leviticus.  Need to get back in gear.
  3. Save up a down payment for a house – Been budgeting and all things look good at this point in time
  4. Find a relatively competitive basketball league to join – Still trying to find a regular game

So there is the February update.  Overall I’m pleased with the progress that I have made so far.  I feel like this is going to continue being a great year.
